COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Housekeeping and Laundry Course is an intensive program designed to equip the students with the key fundamentals of managing Housekeeping and Laundry operations in the hospitality industry. Theoretical and skills training is combined to enable the trainees gain valuable insights into the norms, values and processes used in the hospitality industry which focuses on ensuring quality service delivery to its customers.

Expected learning Outcomes

  1. Cleaning Techniques: Students will learn various cleaning methods, tools, and products appropriate for different surfaces and materials. 

  2. Sanitization and Hygiene: . Students will learn about sanitation standards, disinfection techniques, and the importance of hygiene in preventing the spread of germs and illnesses.

  3. Organization and Time Management: Students will learn about space planning, storage solutions, and time management strategies to complete tasks efficiently.

  4. Safety and Hazard Awareness: Housekeeping courses often cover safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace. 

  5. Customer Service SkillsStudents may learn about communication techniques, professionalism, and how to address customer needs and concerns effectively.

The goal of the programme is to train professionals with well-developed competences in community nutrition and interventions, dietetics practice, food service, public health-related food and nutrition policy formulations.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the BSc. Food Nutrition and Dietetics programme, the learner should be able to:

  1. Applytheconcepts and principles required topromote optimal food nutrition and dietetics practices for public health and disease management;
  2. Implementfood nutrition and dietetics-related programmes and research in multiple settings;
  3. Demonstrate leadership and entrepreneurial skills in food nutrition and dietetics
  4. Prepare food and nutrition policies that positively impact food and nutrition sectors.
  5. Apply acquired skills in food nutrition assessment and diagnosis, and institute appropriate interventions in field of practice.

This course unit is intended to impact in trainees in cooking skills and attitudes required for professional cookery

-it gives the trainee abroad knowledge of raw food materials and the application in food and beverage application.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

At the end of this unit the trainee should be able to

·         Have gained knowledge of raw food commonly used.

·         Appreciate the importance of planned catering.

·         Determine and control as production unit.

·         Produce clean wholesome food.

·         Operate the principal equipment of trade safely.
